Kinja'd!!!

I know them under the name "Hydraulic car dolly/car mover", but that seems too generic.

Does anyone know if they have a different name?

I believe the proper term is "skateboard".

I'm guessing the most correct name would be something like "tire jack/dolly", but you got me - I don't know.

I just saw one of these in a Harbor Freight ad in my email, which is the only reason I know that it is called a "mechanical wheel dolly"

Since you need one for each wheel, sometimes they're called car wheel dollies.

I call them car skates or wheel skates.

They aren't always hydraulic.

There's this thing though, there are some kind of wheel-only dollies that are used to transport many wheels at the same time (or two tractor trailer wheels at the same time, for example) that are ALSO called "(car) wheel dollies".

When I was at AAA, we called them Go-Jacks, but that might be a generic...like calling a soda a Coke. Dollies are different. Go-Jacks we just used to move a car a little so we could hook it, dollies were for towing a car with wheels that couldn't roll for whatever reason.

I love the name of the one in the picture. It's the " Stinger Easy Roller Vehicle Positioning Systems ".
